On February 8th, 2024 Gray’s Army Foundation worked with Councilman Billy Taylor of Livingston Parish to make a motion to “Adopt a resolution of support to establish the placement of Automated External Defibrilators (AEDs) in recreational parks throughout the Parish of Livingston and encourage all recreational coaches to become certified in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).”
On June 10th, 2022 the HB400 Sudden Cardiac Arrest Prevention Act was signed into law by Gov. John Bel Edwards. This act was headed by Representative Valarie Hodges.
HB 400 requires K-12 school nurses, coaches, athletic trainers, both employees and volunteers, to annually complete a sudden cardiac arrest education program.
